Marist High School Redhawk Wrestling “Team Success Through Individual Dedication”
Marist High School is a Catholic college preparatory school that opened it’s doors in 1963 on the South side of Chicago. In fall of 2002, Marist entered a new era as it became coeducational. As a school educating young men and women in heart, mind, and body, the Marist community emulates and fosters the Marist Brothers Founder’s passion and exuberance for living with "a heart that knows no bounds." This unique approach creates an atmosphere where a student's spirit can soar, and academic achievements are made each day.
As students and alumni will attest, when you arrive at Marist you become part of the Marist Family — for life. The Marist Family links students, faculty, Brothers and alumni together in a unique way, and reminds us that being Marist is something you do, not just something you are. The extracurricular activities are based on the development of character. Students who participate in athletics learn self-discipline, perseverance, love of work, cooperation, ethic of fair play, and a sense of personal and school pride.
Marist Wrestling offers wrestling at three levels: Freshman, Sophomore and Varsity, in addition to a limited Junior Varsity Schedule. The program consists of over 70 wrestlers who participate every year. It’s philosophy is a simple one, which states: Every wrestler is encouraged to learn, enjoy, and have success through dedication and teamwork. Marist Wrestling hopes that each individual who competes in the program will take something away with him that he is proud of and will be of assistance to him in the future. Students understand that Wrestling is an extracurricular activity and academics come first.
Marist also runs two Youth Summer Wrestling Camps, one for wrestlers with one year or less experience, and another for more experienced wrestlers. Click here for more info on our Summer Camps or visit our Forms and Media page. |
