The information contained in this book, including opinions and recommendations, is intended to provide a broad understanding and knowledge of nutrition and health topics as they specifically relate to the sport of amateur wrestling, and is for educational purposes only.  It should not be considered complete and is not intended to be a substitute for medical, psychiatric, or psychological evaluation and treatment.  No one should act upon any information provided in this book without first seeking medical advice from a qualified medical physician.  Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise or diet program. Individual nutritional needs and results will vary.  There is little scientific data available regarding diet and nutrition in pre-adolescent athletes.  Consequently, it may not be necessary or advisable for pre-adolescent athletes to follow a strict diet/nutrition regimen, aside from following a healthy diet in general.  The composition, amounts and timing of meals for teenage athletes must be carefully supervised.

Notify your parents, coaches and physician immediately if you don’t feel well, if you have any questions or problems, or if you have any medical problems requiring special or individualized dietary or athletic needs.  For help with any physical problems, weight problems, or emotional problems associated with eating problems or eating disorders, talk to your physician and a mental health professional.

Any activity involving motion, height, wall collisions or physical contact creates the possibility of serious injury, serious injury, which may include permanent paralysis or even death.  Wrestling mats do not totally eliminate this hazard.  Wrestling, training or competition should be done under the supervision of trained and qualified coaches and instructors at all times.  Know your limitations and follow progressive training practices.  Be sure to consult your coaches and instructors.  Inspect mats prior to any activity.  Specifically identify any deterioration of the covering and/or foam material of the mat.  Ensure the integrity of mats mounted to wall surfaces.  Repair or replace as required.  Mats are often constructed in sections.  These sections may move during the use of the mat.  Check for proper fastening (taping) prior to use.  Mat protection will vary according to room temperature.  For wrestling purposes, always follow current National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), National Federation of State High School Association (NFSHS), or International Federation of Associated Wrestling Style (FILA) Standards and Guidelines.
